Kamran M. Khozan has a long history of public service to the Canadian, US and UAE governments:
From 1984 to 1992, he was the Commissioner for the LEAD Project’s Centers of Excellence, reporting directly to the Prime Minister, in Canada. During this period, he established 24 Centres of Excellence, which continue to function successfully to date. These Centres act as incubators for a variety of state-of-the-art technologies and processes. They are an excellent example of successful co-operation between various industries, three levels of government and universities in Canada.
From 1986 to 1991 he served with the Treadway Commission, in the United States, on developing effective and efficient ways and means of overseeing organizational internal control for prevention of fraudulent financial reporting. His recommendations and his system of “Control Self Assessment” were adopted for assessing corporate control systems at Imperial Oil-Exxon, General Motors, 3D Design of Detroit, Mitel Corporation, Alleghany Teledyne Brown, Bank of Montreal and Falconbridge.
From 1992 to 1998 he served with the Canadian Federal Department of Justice and the Ontario Ministries of Solicitor General, Community Safety and Correctional Services and chaired a number of Commissions within these Ministries.
Since 2006, with assistance from a number of UAE universities, government agencies and scholars from various countries, he has been engaged in the development of a set of universally acceptable, government-controlled and regulated accounting and legal standards for Shariah Compliant banking and finance.
Kamran M. Khozan is an honorary member of the Chippewa Ojibwa, a North American Native Band, and a Political Consultant to the Band in Canada. He was given the honorary Chippewa name, “The One Who Teaches” by the Band Council in 1985.
